Train Congestion at Sherwood 26th June 2024
Gold Coast trains travelling via Sherwood due to Cross River Rail contruction, cause a little congestion at Sherwood.
(00:00) a flashing yellow signal warns the approaching train on the Up Suburban line to proceed slowly.
(00:04) NGR 774 with a Gold Coast train, on the Up track comes to a stop just after the signal. I assume so it doesn't stop on the platform and confuse passengers for Ipswich.
(00:44) 2838 with Y752 pulls up to a red signal on the Up Main line. It has to cross the down Suburban line to get to go down the Tennyson line.
(02:29) NGR 772 with an Airport bound train clears the Up suburban line so NGR 774 can proceed.
(03:17) Ipswich bound NGR 723 arrives from Graceville and proceeds past a flashing yellow signal to platform 1 on the Up Sub line and on towards Ipswich.
(04:07) 2838 gets a proceed aspect and departs for Acacia Ridge with it's sweeper train Y752.

I'd like to say a relaxed evening of running passenger trains on my model railway, but with three trains, all the track switches and a camera to operate it was a bit hectic and mistakes were made. I still had fun and hope you enjoy watching. Apologies for the sound quality and the video quality as night falls, but I wanted to show the lights on the layout.

BB18¼ 1079 on a driver Tuition train at Ebenezer June 13th 2024

BB18¼ 1079 was used on a driver tuition run from Ipswich workshops into Roma St and Bowen Hills. It returned to Ipswich but needed to be turned around. It went out to Yarrowlea and onto the Ebenezer branch which has a loop. Seen here about 1216hrs entering the loop and returning on it's journey back to Ipswich.

Empty Coal train 9604 quietly enters Tennyson platform before running up to Corinda with Toowoomba as the ultimate destination, thanks for the wave and toot driver. More than 30 minutes later Y776 pulled by 2831 rolls down from the Sherwood loop passing the empty tracks of PNQ at Moolabin.

PN009 slows to a stop at the now closed Tennyson station, before getting a signal into the PN yard at Moolabin. (the road was set for the Moolabin loop as you'll see in the initial photo.) After about 12 minutes, the driver is relieved, and the new driver begins shunting the intermodal train into the unloading tracks. PN004 pulls train 8UP9 up from Moolabin into the Sherwood loop. After a 3 minute wait for an NGR to pass it heads off north. 6th June 2024.

I'm not sure why, but during Cross River rail work in Brisbane, after The Westlander drops of passengers at Roma Street station, it does the Big Circle (goes from Roma St station out via Sherwood and Tennyson, back through South Brisbane to the City.
More Queensland trains at Corinda, Graceville, Chelmer and Pooh Corner between Darra and Wacol.

Some fine timing by train controllers and train drivers today. First, coal train 9817 at Corinda crosses in front of a suburban Ipswich train. It has a standard stop before the coalie clears and the signal goes green. I waited for 2 hours at Ebenezer for 1089 but it never came. Did it brake down or did it reverse into the yard next to the signal box and went straight to the work shops?
I don't know for sure, but I don't think Ebeneezer was part of the plan today. I was only at Sherwood. Would have been very frustrating making the trip out there when nothing came.

Yes 41 hoppers is max train length on those trains, due to passing loop lengths.

They took it (1079) out there dry a few weeks ago to turn it around while the Ipswich turntable is out of action.

At 16:40 near Wallaville, what would those Cars be carrying with the Yellow Engine pulling? To Quote Jean Luc Picard "Nicely Done".
They are transporting cut sugarcane sticks. Taking them to sugar mill where they will be crushed and juice extracted.
Looks like 8 wagons into C1, 1 wagon into W1 and 7 into W2... to the untrained eye....

yes I think I only counted 6 containers on the front of the train. It is called a sea train as it travels from and inland hub at Emerald to the port of Brisbane. It's been running for over a year now and brings containerized local grain and produce to the sea port. Linfox does similar with containerised freight to north Queensland using Aurizon trains. They run to a timetable and sometime don't have anywhere near a full load.

Hey Alan why did the coal train stop?
Hi Elijah, Spring Bluff is a passing loop. the track either side of it is a single track. So trains traveling in opposite directions, meet here to pass each other. From the station you can't see where the two tracks join to become one. Once the train coming in the opposite direction has cleared the single track, the points change so this train can proceed onto the clear track.
No mistaking it, that's for sure.

Couldn't hear the trains for the music!
I know. You couldn't hear them there either, because of the crowd noise. We had sound equipped locos and you couldn't hear the horns because of the crowd noise. The PA announcements and people talking was mostly what the camera mic recorded, that's why I added the music
